Users can record more HD content with the dual-layer disc and the new drive – approximately 2.5 hours at 35Mbps, 3.3 hours at 25Mbps HD, and 4.5 hours at 18Mbps HD. In DVCAM mode, users can record approximately 3.3 hours of content.
> The new XDCAM PDW-U1 drive has single- and dual-layer disc capabilities and offers read-write functions. This external drive works with both the XDCAM standard- and high-definition systems. The drive supports both the Virtual File Access Mode and Simple Access Mode protocols. The new drive is being supported by major manufacturers of non-linear editing systems. The new XDCAM HD products – the PDW-F355 camcorder, PDW-F75 deck, PDW-U1 drive unit and the PFD50DLA dual-layer disc are planned to be available in September.
