A limitation has been found in the Avid DS v8.4 application when connected to Avid Unity MediaNetwork 5.0.
Writing of media is currently limited to 32-bit chunk size when using a 32-bit Unity client. This limit restricts Avid DS to a single storage chassis or 16 disk drives per allocation and workspace.
If Avid DS access a workspace covering two or more chassis and beyond 18 drives, the application generates multiple HAL errors in tape and file captures, as well as cache processing.
We also have reports that conforming AFE using MXF media on such Unity workspace prevents Avid DS from indexing and reading all media files correctly. Some of the media may report as Not Found in the timeline, although images from this media may still display when performing a match bin.
The engineering team is currently working on a fix for a tentative Avid DS v8.4 QFE 2 release .
