Symphony Nitris 1.5.x and 1.6.x Upgrade information
Since the 1.5.x releases of Symphony Nitris, customers have called into Support with various playback, render, and performance problems.
Many issues are related to improper upgrade or installation, most of which is covered in the the Read Me's.
Symphony Nitris README List
Attached to this document is a version of Version Info Extractor. You can save it to the desktop and run a test to check your configuration against the qualified configuration. This utility will go out and look at drivers, project locations, hard drive free space etc. This is the Symphony equivalent of VIE on DS. When directed, you may save a log file and send it to Avid Customer Support for verification.
For Symphony Nitris 1.5. – 1.6.7 You MUST upgrade the Nvidia Driver to version 84.26 and set the Hardware acceleration to Multi display Compatibility mode. This is a different setting than the 1.0.x versions.
The 1.5.x and 1.6.x release notes describe in detail what needs to be done, starting on page 7 and ending on page 12.
For 1.6.3 – 1.7 The 91.36 NVIDIA driver has been included with this version of the editing application in the following location: C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\NVIDIA.
The version 91.36 driver resolves Avid Symphony Nitris memory problems, but it does not work with the Marquee Title Tool. If you are working with Avid Symphony Nitris 1.6.3 and have memory problems, use the 91.36 driver. But, if you also use the Marquee Title Tool, use the version 84.26 NVIDIA driver.
NEW for 1.7.x – A new nVidia driver, 91.85 has been qualified. This does not have a Marquee limitation.
In addition you have to extend the usable address space by modifying the boot.ini file. You may run the following application and when prompted, choose the option for “D” for Default
C:\programfiles\avid\utilities\3gb\Install3GBNitris.bat
Attached below is a sample Boot.ini file that is properly configured. You may download the file, and copy-paste the contents into your Boot.ini file, overwriting what is there.
