> Apple Mac Pro 12 Core (Dual 6 Core 2.66GHz) system is now qualified for use with Media Composer and Symphony.
Key Points :
Avid only supports the Mac OS 32-bit kernel. All new Mac Pro systems ship with a 64-bit kernel enabled by default. Customers must toggle to the 32-bit kernel before running Media Composer or Symphony. Detailed instructions for toggling the Mac OS kernel to 32-bit can be found here.
A common issue seen with the 64-bit kernel is the dongle isn’t recognized. Other issues can also occur with Software Licensing and other core application functionality. At this time there are no plans to qualify the 64-bit kernel. Due to a Mac OS X 10.6.4 defect in Apple’s Intel NIC driver, ISIS 5000 and ISIS 7000 is not supported with the new Mac Pro 12 Core. The new Mac Pro 12 Core ships with Mac OS 10.6.4 installed from the factory. Apple is aware of their defect and anticipates addressing it in an upcoming OS patch. Apple has not announced a release date for this patch. It is unknown and unlikely that Apple supports Mac OS 10.6.3 with the new Mac Pro 12 Core.
